Zach Luginbill (b.2004) is a pianist, visual artist, and composer from Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Luginbill's playing and compositions are made of up many disparate influences, all bound together by one through line: a deep curiosity and respect for the music. Their compositions are rooted in Jazz, Blues, Classical, and Electronic Music.
As a composer, Luginbill has had their compositions performed/recorded by the UW Eau Claire Jazz 1, the Twin Cities Jazz Composers Workshop Ensemble (ISJAC), and MPLS based musicians Kenni Holmen, Tonia Hughes Kendrick, Jennifer Grimm, and others.
Luginbill currently plays with UW Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble 1, EC based Uncommon Denominator, and their fusion trio, Chroma. Luginbill has performed at staple venues of the Minneapolis music scene, including the Berlin, Crooners Supper Club, The Green Room, Hook and Ladder Theatre, the Metronome Brewery, and others.
When they aren't creating, you can usually find Zach outside, or with their cat, Robin. : )

At 19, Luginbill was selected as a Semi-finalist for the 2024 ASCAP Herb Alpert Jazz Composer Awards. Luginbill recorded their debut album of original compositions with UW Eau Claires' Jazz Ensemble 1 in May of 2026. Expected Release in Early Spring 27'. In Spring 2025', Luginbill performed a Duo-Piano concert with LA-based composer and pianist Matt Harris. The performance took place in Gantner Hall and was hosted by the UW Eau Claire Jazz Studies Program.
In Spring 23', Luginbill recorded piano for the Eau Claire based band Summit Blues' seminal album. In Spring 24', the group recorded a second album, Arbiter. Both albums are available on streaming services and feature Luginbill's original compositions. Luginbill is currently writing/producing an album of original electronic music with EC based musicians Chase Bucheger and Ben Philips. Stay tuned in the following months for updates!
"Rorschach", a collaborative mixed media work created with geographic artist Sam Duff, was selected for the 69th Annual UWEC Student Juried Art Show, and was on exhibition in the Foster Gallery from Mar 30 - Apr 15, 2026.
